Founded in 2000, KCM Group (KCM) is a certified Small Business Enterprise and full-service construction management consulting firm comprised of two comprehensive divisions – Construction Project Management and Stormwater Compliance Program Management. First and foremost, KCM is an Owner’s Representative, serving the interests of public and private building owners and developers. Gordon Kovtun founded KCM Group in 2000 on the strength of his versatile work as a sole practitioner representing Southern California owners. Since then, he has expanded the company’s capabilities to serve residential, commercial and institutional clients— both large and small. Kovtun developed KCM Group’s culture of quality service and client satisfaction and built a dynamic team of dedicated professionals. Along the way, he led the company toward high-profile construction management and consulting projects involving prominent businesses and organizations.

Gordon has more than 25 years of experience in various construction-related arenas. He maintains an active leadership role in each project and relishes opportunities to monitor project progress, mentor project owners, assist with budgeting and accounting matters, and manage scheduling and timing issues—he is involved from the start of pre-construction through the closeout process.

Gordon earned a Master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Southern California and holds licensure for both general building and general engineering disciplines. He is active in the San Diego community, serving as treasurer for both the San Diego Museum of Man and the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. Additionally, Gordon has served as chairman of the Facilities Committee for the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center. In 2004, Gordon was appointed the consul to Norway for San Diego County.

Tony Norton is Chief Operating Officer of KCM Group. As COO, Tony is active in all aspects of the firm, including the financial management and performance of all client projects, client management and relations, staff training and development, hiring and recruiting programs, strategic planning and business development, IT planning and operations, and the overall financial health and advancement of the organization.

Tony joined KCM Group in 2013 and has over 20 years of experience as a business and transactional lawyer. Prior to joining KCM Group, Tony served as legal counsel to the Native American community highlighted by the strategic planning and stewardship adding over 1,700-acres to tribal reservations through the Federal regulatory process.

Originally from Winnipeg, Canada, Tony graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in economics followed by a law degree from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego. Tony is licensed to practice law in the State of California and is a licensed California Real Estate Broker.

Bridget began her career with KCM Group after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Construction Management, from Michigan State University. Bridget has more than ten years of experience as a lead Project Manager.

She has managed all aspects of design and construction on road and underground utility projects, infrastructure development and construction, and reconstruction of commercial and residential properties. She is proficient in project accounting, contract administration, contractor quality control, estimating, scheduling, and serving as a liaison between owner and contractor. Her experience has been fast-paced and broad in scope and has demonstrated her ability to multi-task and handle new challenges.

Chris joined KCM Group in 2012 bringing 11 years of experience in multiple areas of construction project management. Graduating from Northeastern University in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Geology, Chris has spent more than a decade managing commercial, residential, multifamily, hotel and gaming projects.

He has a unique perspective in construction and land development having worked in collaboration with general contractors, owners, developers, designers and consultants. His diverse experience allows him to see projects from different perspectives which are essential when managing complex and distressed projects. As a Senior Project manager at KCM Group, Chris has worked as owner’s representative providing expertise in land development, specialty consulting services, project estimating and scheduling. He is an active member in the Urban Land Institute and currently pursuing his LEED certification.

Erika is an experienced environmental compliance manager who specializes in environmental compliance programs for land development. With over a decade of experience, Erika has developed and coordinated environmental compliance programs that are tailored to a client’s specific needs, are cost effective, and are feasible for field implementation. Her programs have an excellent compliance record with local, state and federal agencies. In addition, Erika coordinates and provides specialized storm water training for land development personnel, construction superintendents and sub-contractors.

Erika is a Qualified Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan Practitioner (QSP), a Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD), a Certified Erosion Sediment and Storm Water Inspector (CESSWI) and a Certified Professional of Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC). She has a Bachelor of Arts, Summa Cum Laude, from Southern Illinois University. Erika is active in the California Storm Water Quality Association (CASQA), the Building Industry Association (BIA) and the International Erosion Control Association (IECA). She currently serves on the San Diego BIA’s Storm Water Task Force.

With over 24 years of experience in architecture and construction, Steve has participated in the design and development of educational facilities, health care facilities, libraries, recreational facilities, industrial, residential and commercial properties. His broad experience in different areas of construction, combined with a Bachelor’s degree in architecture and an architectural license from the State of California gives him a broad foundation from which to draw.

At KCM Group, Steve is responsible for managing custom high-end residential construction projects. His experience in the construction industry and architectural knowledge have helped him work successfully with a number of owners on projects that are very personal to them. Steve understands that each custom home project is unique and is adept at customizing project management to meet the needs of each individual owner.

Steve has also served as the lead on several water intrusion forensic assignments. He manages the investigative teams, and develops forensics reports to substantiate the findings. These reports have led to expedited resolution of issues with all parties involved, avoiding costly litigation.

He supports his industry and the local community through involvement in organizations such as the Mission Valley Design Advisory Board, Construction Specification Institute, Mission Valley Unified Planning Group, the Cerro De Alcala Homeowners’ Association, San Diego Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding San Diego Together.
