KCM GROUP COMPLETES PHASE ONE OF SYCUAN CASINO RENOVATION

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — JULY 5, 2011 — KCM Group, Inc., project manager for the Sycuan Casino in El Cajon, California, has announced the completion of first phase renovations for the popular gaming, dining and entertainment destination. Part of a 200,000 square-foot renovation, this first of two phases involved constructing three new, smoke-free locations: San Diego-area’s largest poker room, an Off Track Betting room and an entire gaming wing for slots and table games. Additionally, Paipa’s Buffet restaurant, a key dining area, was relocated and transformed with a new kitchen and food stations.

Construction of phase one of the project commenced in November 2010 and San Diego-based KCM Group is currently managing its second and final phase, with completion expected in late-August 2011. Sycuan Casino is operated by the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation and has remained open to guests throughout the renovations. KCM Group represents the tribe and casino management through all facets of the project including programming, budgeting and construction management.

“Phase one has been a great success and this continues to be an exciting project that will provide a greatly enhanced gaming facility for San Diego and the area’s many visitors,” said Gordon Kovtun, principal of KCM Group. “Our entire team looks forward to diligently managing design and construction and delivering the remainder of the project on schedule and under budget.”

The second phase of renovations includes a dynamic grand entrance to the casino featuring specialty lighting designed to create the illusion of water, as well as renovation of the bingo hall, reconstruction of casino restrooms, a new video and promotions stage, and new grand stairway linking the lower-level casino to the new table games area. For dining, final renovations will signal the debut of the GameDay Sports Bar & Grill and the unveiling of makeovers for the Sunset Deli and Bingo Snack Bar.

Swinerton Builders has been instrumental to the success of the project as the general contractor. Subcontractors working with Swinerton include Neal Electric, California Comfort Systems, American Marble, J.F. Duncan Industries, Custom Seating and Upholstery, Component West, Casa Interiors Floor Coverings, Howard’s Rugs and South Bay Welding. The architect is Hnedak Bobo Group of Memphis, Tennessee and the interior designer is Cleo Design of Las Vegas, Nevada.
